Raute Gains Panel Repair Orders

Raute Gains Panel Repair Orders

Raute’s latest panel repairing solutions have resulted in orders for panel repair stations and a panel repairing line to be delivered to two customers in North America. The ordered machinery and equipment will be delivered by the end of 2021.

The equipment will be engineered and manufactured mainly in Raute’s production unit in Nastola, Finland. Some work will also take place in Raute’s unit in Vancouver, Can. The machine vision technology for controlling panel repairing will be delivered from Raute’s unit in Kajaani, Finland.

The orders come following Raute’s launch of a new panel repair station and next-generation panel repairing line. Automatic panel repairing increases the cost efficiency of plywood production, ensuring that the final quality of the panels is more uniform and makes it easier to control the various panel grades, according to Raute.

“We have developed and launched new panel repairing solutions to respond to the needs of various customers in the plywood industry,” says Tapani Kiiski, President and CEO of Raute Corp. “Our latest products are an excellent continuation of Raute’s panel repairing technology offering, and they represent a breakthrough in new technology.

“Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we launched one product virtually just a few months ago. In connection with the launch of our panel repairing solutions, we received nearly simultaneous orders from two customers in North America.”

Tebulo Becomes Radian Robotics

Tebulo Becomes Radian Robotics

Tebulo Industrial Robotics is changing its name to Radian Robotics. According to President Jim Kay, the change is part of a larger rebranding process due to the company’s business growth.

“As we’ve expanded into different market segments and developed new applications, our team has doubled in size and we’ve outgrown the partnership we have with our European division,” Kay says. “Our focus on the steel, aluminum and lumber industries is still razor-sharp. And our team is continuing to improve and expand our product lines.”

The company is located in Hamilton, Ontario, serving North and South America along with New Zealand and Australia.

“Due to the ongoing pandemic, increasing restrictions and the renewed lockdown, there is great uncertainty in the market,” emphasizes Dr. Andreas Gruchow, Deutsche Messe Managing Board member. “The decision to postpone Ligna was a very difficult one for us, but it is the only consistent measure to give all those involved planning security and the necessary lead time for preparations.”

“We are already looking forward to numerous innovations, particularly in the three focal themes of LIGNA.21: Woodworking Transformation, Prefab Building Processes and Green Material Processing,” adds Christian Pfeiffer, Global Director Ligna & Woodworking Shows at Deutsche Messe.

Nile Wood Orders MDF Plant

Nile Wood Orders MDF Plant

Egypt Kuwait Holding (EKH) subsidiary Nile Wood has ordered from Dieffenbacher a complete MDF plant with CPS+ continuous press for its greenfield site in Sadat City, Egypt. The order placed in September 2020 follows a development and engineering phase that began in late 2018.

EKH was established in 1997 by a consortium of Kuwaiti and Egyptian business people and has since become one of the fastest growing companies in the Middle East and Africa with investments in 19 companies. Nile Wood is EKH’s first venture into the wood-based panels industry.

“We first contacted Dieffenbacher at Ligna 2017 in Hannover and started serious project discussions a few months later,” comments Nile Wood CEO Walid El Hennawy. “We chose Dieffenbacher because we believed their experience and dedication could help us successfully enter the wood-based panels market. We’re relying on Dieffenbacher to provide us with a high-end MDF line that will set the standard for wood-based panel production in Africa.”

Nile Wood will use Sesbania wood from its own plantations as the raw material. Sesbania is a fast-growing plant that matures for harvesting within two years and is environmentally friendly due to its ability to fix nitrogen. The water for the plantations is processed from urban waste water.

The complete MDF plant for Nile Wood includes the CPS+ continuous press, a chipping line, dryer, air grader and gluing system, forming station and forming line, raw board handling and storage, and a sanding and sawing line. MDF production is scheduled to start by the end of 2021. The line will reach an annual production capacity of 200,000 m³.
