Homag Purchases Press Manufacturer

Homag Purchases Press Manufacturer

Homag Group is acquiring majority interest in the Danish mechanical engineering company, Kallesoe Machinery A/S, as Homag takes another step toward establishing itself as a leading technology partner for sustainable construction with solid wood.

Kallesoe specializes in high-frequency presses for the production of cross-laminated timber (CLT). The company was founded in 1969 and reports installation of 500 presses worldwide—including Vaagen Timbers in Washington state. Kallesoe supplies high-frequency presses that work with high-frequency waves to accelerate curing of adhesive.

“We want to offer as many technologies for timber construction as possible from a single source,” says Ralf Dieter, CEO of Homag Group AG. “We are developing the solid wood business into a second pillar alongside our activities with the furniture industry.”

Homag is acquiring 70% of the shares in Kallesoe Machinery A/S from the Christensen family, with 30% remaining with the family.

Raute To Move Locations For Chinese Operations

Raute To Move Locations For Chinese Operations

Raute is moving its operations in China to a new location in Changzhou, which is in the Jiangsu province. The new facility is located three hours of driving time from Shanghai and there is a fast and efficient train connection. Operations in the new site are planned to start in January 2022.

“The current location in the Shanghai area has limitations for further growth as the area is being developed more towards lighter industries needs,” says Tapani Kiiski, President and CEO, Raute Corp. “The nearby supplier network is moving to new regions as well. Also, challenges of finding a skilled work force for industrial work did contribute to the decision.”

Raute will employ about 100 people in the Changzhou facility. Raute is offering jobs for the new location to its current employees. At the same time, some office functions, sales, administration and engineering will be moved to a new location in the Shanghai area.

RoyOMartin Adds Production Line In Corrigan

RoyOMartin Adds Production Line In Corrigan

RoyOMartin has announced a new production line for its Eclipse-branded OSB radiant barrier product at the Corrigan, Tex. facility. The Globe Machine Manufacturing Co. line, which will be completed over the next few months, is also equipped with a Black Brothers laminating station. This new line will double the output of the product when running at full capacity.

“Eclipse has been an important value-added product for RoyOMartin since it was first introduced in 2003 at our Lemoyen mill. We have grown our capabilities over the past 18 years with efficiency improvements on the original machine, but in 2019 we realized the market was outgrowing our ability to produce enough radiant barrier. Our new Corrigan OSB LLC facility was the perfect location to add production capacity,” says Terry Secrest, Executive Vice President, RoyOMartin.

Tebulo Becomes Radian Robotics

Tebulo Becomes Radian Robotics

Tebulo Industrial Robotics is changing its name to Radian Robotics. According to President Jim Kay, the change is part of a larger rebranding process due to the company’s business growth.

“As we’ve expanded into different market segments and developed new applications, our team has doubled in size and we’ve outgrown the partnership we have with our European division,” Kay says. “Our focus on the steel, aluminum and lumber industries is still razor-sharp. And our team is continuing to improve and expand our product lines.”

The company is located in Hamilton, Ontario, serving North and South America along with New Zealand and Australia.

“Due to the ongoing pandemic, increasing restrictions and the renewed lockdown, there is great uncertainty in the market,” emphasizes Dr. Andreas Gruchow, Deutsche Messe Managing Board member. “The decision to postpone Ligna was a very difficult one for us, but it is the only consistent measure to give all those involved planning security and the necessary lead time for preparations.”

“We are already looking forward to numerous innovations, particularly in the three focal themes of LIGNA.21: Woodworking Transformation, Prefab Building Processes and Green Material Processing,” adds Christian Pfeiffer, Global Director Ligna & Woodworking Shows at Deutsche Messe.
