Raute Gains Panel Repair Orders

Raute Gains Panel Repair Orders

Raute’s latest panel repairing solutions have resulted in orders for panel repair stations and a panel repairing line to be delivered to two customers in North America. The ordered machinery and equipment will be delivered by the end of 2021.

The equipment will be engineered and manufactured mainly in Raute’s production unit in Nastola, Finland. Some work will also take place in Raute’s unit in Vancouver, Can. The machine vision technology for controlling panel repairing will be delivered from Raute’s unit in Kajaani, Finland.

The orders come following Raute’s launch of a new panel repair station and next-generation panel repairing line. Automatic panel repairing increases the cost efficiency of plywood production, ensuring that the final quality of the panels is more uniform and makes it easier to control the various panel grades, according to Raute.

“We have developed and launched new panel repairing solutions to respond to the needs of various customers in the plywood industry,” says Tapani Kiiski, President and CEO of Raute Corp. “Our latest products are an excellent continuation of Raute’s panel repairing technology offering, and they represent a breakthrough in new technology.

“Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we launched one product virtually just a few months ago. In connection with the launch of our panel repairing solutions, we received nearly simultaneous orders from two customers in North America.”

Raute Opens Service Center, Kirov, Russia

Raute Opens Service Center, Kirov, Russia

Raute Group’s newly inaugurated Service Center is the company’s second Service Center in Russia. It was opened to ensure Raute’s capability to meet its customers’ needs better and serve the Kirov region plywood mills more effectively by offering shorter delivery times for spare parts and local services.

Within a radius of 400 kilometers, there are more than ten plywood mills that will be served in the first stage.

“The opening of the new Kirov Service Center marks an important milestone for Raute Service LLC in terms of providing local services to a growing veneer, plywood and LVL industry in the local market,” says Jouni Putkonen, Vice President, Market Area Russia (CIS).

“Raute’s strategy is to establish local service points close to its customers in order to be able to offer fast local service utilizing global knowhow – global presence, local service. The demand for technology services has increased strongly in recent years, which is why Raute Service LLC moved into larger and more professional premises in the beginning of 2017 in order to have more office and warehouse space. 2018 was a year of extensive service growth and this trend looks set to continue in 2019 and 2020,” says Tapani Kiiski, President and CEO, Raute Corporation.

Raute Receives LVL Line Order From Roseburg Forest Products

Raute Corporation has received an order worth over EUR 11 million for an LVL layup line for Roseburg Forest Products, Inc. (RFP) of Roseburg, Oregon, USA.

The present order received by Raute consists of a very high capacity LVL layup line. The line will be delivered to RFP’s new LVL mill in Chester, South Carolina, USA late 2018. The capacity of RFP’s new LVL mill will be 285,000 m3 per year and will be one of the largest capacity single LVL lines in the world. The equipment will be engineered and produced in Raute’s North American unit in Delta, Vancouver area, Canada.

The cooperation between RFP and Raute has continued for many years. Raute has delivered projects of various sizes to RFP’s plywood and LVL mills. The largest project was RFP’s first LVL line in Roseburg, Oregon, USA delivered in the year 2000.

The demand for LVL in the USA has been growing steadily in recent years. By building this new LVL mill Roseburg will be responding to that demand and intends to maintain their strong market position. Raute was selected as the supplier for the LVL layup line because of its extensive experience from earlier deliveries as well as Raute’s leading LVL process technology.

The present new order has no impact on Raute’s outlook for 2017, but it will strengthen the order book for 2018. Raute’s net sales will grow clearly and operating profit will improve clearly over the levels of 2016.
