Nile Wood Orders MDF Plant

Nile Wood Orders MDF Plant

Egypt Kuwait Holding (EKH) subsidiary Nile Wood has ordered from Dieffenbacher a complete MDF plant with CPS+ continuous press for its greenfield site in Sadat City, Egypt. The order placed in September 2020 follows a development and engineering phase that began in late 2018.

EKH was established in 1997 by a consortium of Kuwaiti and Egyptian business people and has since become one of the fastest growing companies in the Middle East and Africa with investments in 19 companies. Nile Wood is EKH’s first venture into the wood-based panels industry.

“We first contacted Dieffenbacher at Ligna 2017 in Hannover and started serious project discussions a few months later,” comments Nile Wood CEO Walid El Hennawy. “We chose Dieffenbacher because we believed their experience and dedication could help us successfully enter the wood-based panels market. We’re relying on Dieffenbacher to provide us with a high-end MDF line that will set the standard for wood-based panel production in Africa.”

Nile Wood will use Sesbania wood from its own plantations as the raw material. Sesbania is a fast-growing plant that matures for harvesting within two years and is environmentally friendly due to its ability to fix nitrogen. The water for the plantations is processed from urban waste water.

The complete MDF plant for Nile Wood includes the CPS+ continuous press, a chipping line, dryer, air grader and gluing system, forming station and forming line, raw board handling and storage, and a sanding and sawing line. MDF production is scheduled to start by the end of 2021. The line will reach an annual production capacity of 200,000 m³.

China Firm Orders Straw-Based Particleboard Plant From Dieffenbacher

China Firm Orders Straw-Based Particleboard Plant From Dieffenbacher

For the fourth time in four years, Chinese straw-based particleboard specialist Wanhua Ecoboard has ordered a straw-based particleboard plant from Dieffenbacher. The greenfield project at the Tonglin site in the Anhui province is scheduled to start production in December.

Highlighting the order is a 28m long CPS+ continuous press, the first of Dieffenbacher’s new generation of continuous press to be delivered in China. Equipment for flaking, including three MRZ 1500 knife ring flakers with the FlowOptmizer material feeder, were also ordered along with a dryer, forming station and forming line.

“To meet our commitment to produce environmentally friendly, formaldehyde-free panels made of wood and straw, we continue to rely on Dieffenbacher as one of our most important partners,” says Wanhua CEO Zhao Zhimei.

Dieffenbacher and Wanhua have also agreed on the delivery of two additional plants, numbers five and six. Again, a CPS+ will be used for both projects. Commissioning of these plants is planned for 2019.

PELICE 2018 Will Focus On New Projects

PELICE 2018 Will Focus On New Projects

PELICE 2018 Will Focus On New Projects

Organizers of the sixth Panel & Engineered Lumber International Conference & Expo (PELICE) announced the first wave of exhibitor sponsors for the event to be held April 13-14, 2018 again in the Grand Ballroom North of the Omni Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

The 2016 PELICE set a record attendance of 450 industry professionals, including representatives from 32 wood products producer companies. They heard 50 presentations on new project development, production technologies, industry issues and forecasts.

PELICE, which is hosted by Panel World magazine, covers the veneer, plywood, OSB, MDF, particleboard and engineered wood products sectors. The 2016 event was supported by 80 equipment and technology exhibitor sponsors.

PELICE exhibitor sponsorships include Gold, Silver and Bronze packages.

The early Gold sponsors for 2018 include B&W MEGTEC, Hexion, Sandvik, Sigma Thermal-TSI, Dieffenbacher and Siempelkamp.

First wave of Silver sponsors includes: Argos Solutions, Atlantic Combustion, Baumer Inspection, Biele, Con-Vey, Electronic Wood Systems, Georgia-Pacific Chemicals, Globe Machine, Grenzebach, IMA Schelling, IMAL-PAL, Meinan Machinery Works, MoistTech, Pallmann Industries, Player Design Inc., Process Combustion Corp., SUGIMAT, Timber Products Inspection, Westmill Industries and Willamette Valley Co.

Early Bronze sponsors are Automation Industries, CMA Engineering, Flamex, Georgia Forestry Commission, GreCon, Steinemann Technology and Wechsler Engineering.

The 2018 event will continue a theme that was begun at the 2016 conference—New Plant Development and Construction. Several speakers in 2016 addressed ongoing projects, all of which will have started up by this PELICE.

PELICE 2018 will also feature several speakers addressing ongoing new plant development.

“The attendees seem to enjoy hearing about projects that are in the course of construction, and the different considerations that a producer company encountered from project inception to this point in time,” comments Rich Donnell, Co-Chairman of PELICE and editor-in-chief of Panel World magazine. “In addition to these presentations, we hope to have some speakers bring up to date new projects that were addressed at the last PELICE and which have started up—the question being, did project evolvement and startup go as planned?”

The conference features eight keynote speakers over the course of two days, and then the conference breaks into three meeting rooms, with each room featuring a series of technical presentations on new machinery and equipment technology development.

“PELICE 2018 will be our sixth one, and it’s also a 10-year anniversary since the first one in spring 2008,” Donnell observes. “It’s been a heck of a ride for the wood products industry, and our event, during those 10 years. We greatly appreciate the support of those who participate.”

Arauco, Dieffenbacher Sign Supply Contracts For Michigan Panel Plant

Arauco is investing in the construction of a new particleboard plant with a planned capacity of 800,000 square meters per year in Grayling, Michigan. For the first time, the company is purchasing a complete plant from Dieffenbacher. The two companies decided to work together in January 2016, followed by a phase of detailed engineering and concluding with the signing of supply contracts at the end of 2016.

The highlights of the scope of supply are Dieffenbacher’s EVOjet P gluing system, which reportedly uses up to 15 percent less glue; and the continuous CPS+ press, which, at 10 feet wide and 52.5 meters long, will be one of the largest particleboard presses in the world.

“Arauco always exercises prudence when it comes to committing to new development. Therefore, we are all the more pleased with the confidence that Arauco has shown in us with its decision to choose the CPS+,” says Bernd Bielfeldt, head of the Wood Business Unit at Dieffenbacher.

The two driers, together with the associated energy system that Chile-based Arauco also commissioned from Dieffenbacher, are large parts of the new operation. Grayling is located in the northern part of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula.

The contract also includes dosing silos for the chips, a glue mixing station, forming stations and the forming line; as well as the raw board handling system, the sanding line and the Lukki bearing system, which Arauco has already had experience with at its other sites.

Dieffenbacher Supplies OSB Line To Martco

Dieffenbacher Supplies OSB Line To Martco

Dieffenbacher received an order from Martco, LLC (a Roy O. Martin company) for a forming and press line as part of Martco’s recently announced OSB plant to be built in Corrigan, Texas.

Dieffenbacher’s scope of supply includes a four head forming station, a Belt / Flexoplan combination forming line and a 12 ft x 26 ft / 14 daylight multi opening hot press.

Construction will start on the Corrigan facility in the last half of 2015 and the first board is anticipated in 2017.

The plant is the second Martco OSB facility to utilize a Dieffenbacher press line. A similar line is currently operating at the Martco facility in Oakdale, Louisiana, which was commissioned in 2006.
