Panel World’s January issue spotlights Peninsula Plywood, a historic mill that has been recently resurrected in Port Angeles, Wash. The premium panel planet is a plywood pioneer, and it is focusing on the cedar market with innovative cottonwood utilization. APA Meeting
APA—The Engineered Wood Assn. held its annual meeting October 17-20 at The West La Paloma here. The beautiful weather and scenery provided members, about 300 of them, an escape from the difficult business environment back home.

Istanbul-based Kastamonu Entegre has selected Dieffenbacher as the main supplier for reportedly the biggest MDF plant in Turkey. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on October 2 at the city of Adana in the eastern part of Turkey.

Westmill was selected by APA—The Engineered Wood Assn. and Engineered Wood Technology Assn. (EWTA) as the “Innovator of the Year 2010” for the successful installation of its LightSORT Green Veneer Moisture Measurement (GVMM) technology in an APA member mill.

Fred O’Leary, long affiliated with Canada and U.S. forest products industry trade magazines, including those published by Hatton-Brown Publishers, Inc., died November 14 in Thornhill, Ontario, near Toronto. He was 89.
